JCST Certification Guidelines & Quality Indicators 2016/17

The certification guidelines for all of the surgical specialties have been updated for the start of the 2016/17 training year. There is also a checklist for the final ARCP of Core Surgical Training. You can find the updated guidelines here.
You will also find updated versions of the ST4 benchmarking guidance for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, ST6 benchmarking guidance for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Otolaryngology, and penultimate year benchmarking guidance for Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and OMFS. In addition, certification checklists for Plastic Surgery, Otolaryngology and Urology and a list of critical conditions for General Surgery are also available.

The quality indicators (QIs) for Core Surgical Training, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery have been updated for the start of the new training year. The common change is the addition of a QI on opportunity to attend MDT meetings. You can find the updated QIs here.
