Hand Surgery

Although Hand Surgery is not a specialty which leads towards the award of a CCT / CESR (CP) / CCST, the SACs in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery have, through the JCST's Training Interface Group, jointly recognised a number of national Advanced Training Posts in Hand Surgery. These are open to both Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery StRs in ST7-ST8 and SpRs in years 5-6. Trainees who are successful in obtaining one of these posts will carry their training number with them whilst undertaking this period of training. The posts provide exposure to both the plastic and orthopaedic aspects of hand surgery and will be for 12 months. The posts will be advertised by Severn Postgraduate Medical Education and are centrally appointed, with formal interviews. Intending applicants must discuss these posts with their Training Programme Director before applying.

The curriculum for the Hand Surgery TIG fellowship can be found in the Trauma & Othopaedic Surgery and Plastic Surgery parent curricula here.
