OMFS specific certification details

To ensure that LMs are able to assess your competences before your ARCP 6 is awarded, please ensure that:

  • You have considered your specialty’s curriculum and Certification Guidelines and ensured that your ISCP portfolio demonstrates evidence that all required competences have been met. If you have any concerns about this, please discuss them with your TPD as soon as possible.

  • Your ISCP account is up-to-date with validated data, including validated WBAs – this should be done within a reasonable timeframe to give all assessors enough time to assess your evidence.

  • Your eLogbook data is current and covers all your training (specifically your NTN training period and any previous posts recognised as counting towards your higher surgical training).

  • You have uploaded an up-to-date CV, ensuring it shows all of your training posts including dates (mm/yyyy to mm/yyyy) for each.

  • You have uploaded an up-to-date ATLS certificate – this can be uploaded under ADD > OTHER EVIDENCE > Courses / e-learning in your ISCP account.

  • You must complete and upload the Certification checklist – under ADD > OTHER EVIDENCE > Miscellaneous in your ISCP account.

Please note that specialty trainees in OMFS must be on the General Dental Council (GDC) Register or be able to satisfactorily demonstrate eligibility for registration with the GDC in order to be entered onto the GMC’s Specialist Register in OMFS. Trainees should be able to demonstrate one of the following at completion of training:

  • Full and current registration with the GDC;
  • Possession of either the LDSRCS or ORE qualification;
  • A letter from the GDC confirming that you are currently eligible for entry to the GDC Register should you make an application. This letter must be generated within 3 months of your Certification date.
OMFS trainees who are unable to satisfactorily demonstrate one of these criteria may be issued with an ARCP outcome 6, but will not be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register until their eligibility for GDC registration is clarified.
