The Republic of Ireland Visiting System

The changes of Modernising Medical Careers and the PMETB only apply to the UK. The Republic of Ireland will continue to run the quinquennial SAC visit system, which is managed through direct liaison between the specialty teams at the RCSI and the QA Team at the JCST.

Visits in the nine specialties are run every five years, with the opportunity for revisits during the five-year period if significant concerns are highlighted that require following up. In addition, where major training issues are flagged to the SAC, visits can be triggered to individual hospitals.
