Head and Neck Surgical Oncology
Although head and neck surgical oncology is not a specialty which leads towards the award of a CCT or CSD, the SACs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery, through the JCST Interface Group, jointly recognise several national advanced head and neck surgery posts for training. These fellowships are open to trainees in the three specialties who are in either Calman (SpR) years 5-6, or in run-through training at ST7-ST8. Recruitment to these posts is managed nationally by the Severn Deanery. Applicants will need to provide structured references from their current Programme Director and consultant supervisor. Before entering a fellowship, trainees should gain the support of their parent SAC. In order for the time to be counted towards the award of CCT or CSD, trainees will again need to contact their SAC, having completed trainee assessment forms and training post assessment forms for the relevant period.
