Trainees in a training programme
Do Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgical trainees have to submit two logbooks from the previous fellows to obtain SAC support for a fellowship post?
Yes. Since March 2009, the SAC in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery require trainees to submit the previous fellows’ logbooks for SAC support applications for fellowships in the UK and overseas. This is to enable the SAC to recommend the most beneficial fellowship posts to trainees for their overall training, ensuring all competencies can be met and avoiding possible extensions to expected CCT/CSD dates.
For new fellowship posts, the SAC in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery will accept a detailed supervisor’s report outlining the expected number of operations during the post. Examples of this report can be provided by the Trauma and Orthopaedics specialty team at the JCST offices.
