JCST Trainee Survey
12 July 2012
The JCST would like to remind trainees that it is a Gold Guide requirement that you must take part in systems of quality assurance of your clinical work and training.
One example of this is the JCST survey of your training placements, which we developed with the Schools of Surgery and which you can access via the ISCP website. The JCST expects you to complete this before your ARCP. Some of you will already have completed the GMC survey and may be wondering what the purpose of the JCST survey is. In short, it provides a more surgically focused assessment of your training posts and will provide us with valuable information about the quality of surgical training.
Whilst many of you may have had your ARCP already this summer, at future ARCPs you may not receive an ARCP 1 if you have not completed the survey. This position has been agreed with the Heads of Schools of Surgery.
The survey is your way of improving the standard of training posts and, even if you have already had your ARCP, it is really important that you complete a survey for each training placement you have undertaken since August 2011.
